50th Win for Sports Car Racer Scott Tucker

Friday, January 21, 2011, By Ryan Perkins

Leawood’s Scott Tucker has now won a total of 50 sports car races since he began his sports car racing career. The 50th win took place last weekend when he drove in two national Sports Car Club of America races. The events took place at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The Sports Car Club of America events were a good tune up for Tucker, who will be racing in the Rolex 24 on 30th to 31st January, which will take place at Daytona.

When speaking of this 50th career win, Tucker said: “To reach a milestone like this is tremendous.” He continued to note: “We’ve taken on a lot of great competitors in so many different series that getting 50 wins is something we’re proud of.”

The 50 races that have been won during Tucker’s career have come from a mix of series, which includes the Grand Am Rolex, the American Le Mans, the Porsche Super Cup, the SCCA, and the Ferrari Challenge.

Tucker won the opening race at Homestead, although he did not get the chance to win the second event because he had a tire failure in his car after he had completed only nine laps of the race.

Tucker took the tire failure in his stride, and is ready for the next event in the SCCA competition. He said: “Anytime you have a tire failure at 170 mph, it’s going to get your attention. “You hate to have those things happen, but that comes with the territory. We’ll rebound, as always, and look for our next chance to get back out there in SCCA competition.”

Tucker has a number of events lined up for him this year, including the Ferrari Challenge Series, where he will be racing a full schedule. To date, Tucker is the most successful driver that has raced in the Ferrari Challenge Series.
