D-10. The kick-off of the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup will be given in ten days in the Sebring 12 Hours. The European entrants are currently heading for the United States.

The teams are all involved in intensive preparations for the opening skirmish on the mythic Florida circuit. In 2010, Peugeot became the first French manufacturer to win the American classic with Wurz-Gené-Davidson. The Sochaux squad is already on the spot setting up the installations for its two new cars.

Yesterday, 8th March, a Boeing 747 cargo plane chartered by the ILMC logistics team took off from Luxembourg, destination Atlanta. On board were nine cars that took advantage of this special transport facility organized in partnership with the Cars Company, the series’ official transporter. They consisted of the three OAK- Racing Pescarolos, the Ferrari 458 Italia and the F430 GT of Luxury Racing and AF Corse, the Oreca Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, the Rebellion Team’s Lola B10/60-Toyota, the Gulf AMR Middle East Aston Martin Vantage and the Signatech Oreca 03-Nissan. After their arrival at Atlanta these cars will be brought to the Sebring International Raceway by transporter.
Peugeot, Audi and Proton Competition made their own arrangements to send their cars either by boat or plane. Other teams (BMW, CRS Racing, and American squads, Level 5 Motorsports and Krohn Racing) are already on the spot.

Larbre Competition sent its Corvette C6-ZR1 in one of the four 40-foot containers loaded onto a cargo ship, which sailed from Rotterdam three weeks ago for the United States. They also contain all the organization’s technical equipment.

Missing from this list, unfortunately, is the Aston Martin AMR-ONE. Although the brand-new prototype was unveiled last week, the English car is not yet ready to tackle the daunting challenge that the Sebring 12-Hours event represents. It will have its maiden outing in a race in the second ILMC round, the Spa 1000 kms, on 7th May, in which two of the AMR-ONEs will be entered.
