Audi takes the 24 Hrs of Le Mans by 13 seconds

Can you believe that’s possible? For those of you that live under a rock, there is a 24 hour endurance race every year in France, called the 24 hours of Le Mans.  It’s one of the greatest spectacles in racing.  This multi class event will always bring plenty of excitement.

There is no rivalry better in racing than Audi vs. Peugeot.  Every year, technology enhancements make this race more and more exciting.  This year, we saw some horrific crashes that brought multiple safety cars out.  Audi’s stable was reduced greatly by two incredible crashes and one lone horse was left to battle the juggernaut of Peugeot’s stable.

Both of the Audi crashes were devastating, but the biggest surprise is that no one was injured in either of their crashes.  The amount of debris that flew off the cars could have causes massive devastation to spectators, but didn’t.

In the end, Audi prevailed and took home the win.  The margin of victory was so slim that you would think it was a one lap race on the 8 mile course.  After 24 hours of constant racing, the margin of victory was just over 13 seconds.  Absolutely incredible.

Congratulations to the Corvette team that won the GTE Pro Class, celebrating in their 100th anniversary and 10th anniversary of their first win.  Also, a huge congratulations to Level 5 Motorsports for their 3rd in LMP2 class finish.  Job well done for all that finished, it’s a grueling race!
