Le Mans Series teams at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Le Mans Series teams at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

2011/06/05 19:14 Le Mans Series teams at the 24 Hours of Le Mans
No less than 20 teams have an appointment with history on the famous, mythical 24h of Le Mans circuit.

Who are they?
In the LMP1 catgory, Rebellion Racing (N°s 12 & 13) currently second in the general, just two points behind the leader: the Pescarolo Team. The latter signed his return to endurance racing immediately and imposed their supremacy thanks to a victory in the 6 hours of Castellet and good results in the 1000km de Spa Francorchamps.

Unfortunate at the beginning of the championship, Miguel Amaral, Olivier Pla joined on their Zytek 09SC at Le Mans by Warren Hughes will be eager to hoist the Quifel ASM Team colours as high as possible.

The six entered LMP2s will not be outdone faced with Signatech Nissan, Level 5 Motorsports, Oak Racing…The current Le Mans Series leader and winner of the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans, Strakka Racing will certainly call the tune in the front. The Greaves Motorsport trio, Karim Ojjeh, Tom Kimber-smith and Olivier Lombard will be opponents to be feared after their results in 2010 and 2011. As for RML, Pecom Racing, Race Performance, Extreme Limite Am Paris, they should also be watched closely.

The LMGTE Pro category is well represented. Seven teams have an appointment on the track this coming Whitsun week-end. The first three in the general classification are very close. Clever strategies will be needed to counter the leader's (AF Corse N° 51) projects.
The Porsches 911 RSR of Prospeed Competition, IMSA Performance Matmut and the Team Felbermayr-Proton will be able to count on the experience of their respective drivers such as Goossens, Patrick Pilet, Marc Lieb…
The Felbermayr-Proton Team is putting all chances on their side for this new edition of the 24 Hours of le Mans by lining up a second professional crew, hopefully to climb onto the highest step of the podium.

In LMGTE Am the AF Corse Team (N°61) is the only representative of the Le Mans Series championship. The three drivers will have to use all their talents to thwart the other competitor's tactics. Which of the five present manufacturers will win? A Ferrari – Porsche duel in perspective refereed by Corvette, Aston Martin and Ford?

A war of nerves, reliability, mental strength … .so many  factors to be mastered to pass the finishing line of the famous clock tower in the best conditions, with the best possible result.

To be followed all week long at www.lemans-series.com
